"We are always being watched". The theme big brother came about while I was tasked to capture the Covid safety measures in my location as part of a collaboration for my MA in photography. The mini- project had shots from Melbourne, Manchester and Singapore. This was early in the pandemic and one of the first times I had been out of my house. What struck me was that the models on the advertising posters almost seemed to be mocking us newly masked individuals. Not only selling the aspirations of looking, smelling and being dressed/bejewelled but also being able to breathe without fear. Quite the dystopian view I know. So after a while the idea grew to focus on the simple juxtaposition of the eye-line and the poses. It was at this location that I realised that I was being ‘auditioned’ by Margot Robbie. This was the first shot framed deliberately.
